App for a seamless festival experience

Overview
The Big Slap Festival is a nationally (Sweden) recognized event, attracting tens of thousands of attendees from around Europe. The festival spans two days and features performances by renowned artists across multiple stages. Despite its popularity, the festival faced challenges in delivering a seamless experience for attendees due to the scale of the event.
The organizers sought to improve the festival-goers’ experience by providing them with more control and access to essential information.

Discovery and Planning
The initial phase involved extensive research to understand the needs of festival-goers and the challenges they faced. I ended up with three key needs that festival goers were missing. The app was then planned around these three pain points and the aim was to make sure these three needs were met. The three key pointsto the right:
Pain points
1.
Enhanced Attendee Experience & Control
A festival app centralizes essential information, such as performance schedules, artist details, and maps, giving attendees a greater sense of control over their experience. With real-time updates and personalized itineraries, users can better plan their day and avoid missing out on key performances or activities.
2.
Streamlined Navigation & Access to Services
Large festivals can be overwhelming, but an app provides an interactive map, helping users navigate the festival grounds more easily. Information about food vendors, restrooms, stages, and emergency services ensures that attendees can quickly find what they need, minimizing confusion and improving their overall experience.
3.
Real-Time Updates & Communication
An app allows for instant communication with festival-goers, providing crucial real-time updates about schedule changes, weather alerts, or important announcements. This keeps attendees informed and ensures they can adapt to any changes, creating a smoother, more enjoyable experience.
02
Design and Prototyping
The design phase focused on creating a user-friendly interface that was both visually appealing and easy to navigate. Wireframes and prototypes were developed and tested with a group of potential users to gather feedback and refine the design.
The design ended up having a very minimalistic style design with two prominent colors to seperate the two days of the festival. Everything that was connected to a certain day hade instances of that color to make remind the user of what day the information was regarding.
